more of the same. we have plenty of sunshine. highs back in the low 80s. we have a few clouds out to the west into portions of western virginia and west virginia. so instead of perfect sunshine, we'll have mostly sunny skies today and a little further off to the north and west, out towards detroit, you see thicker cloud cover. this is a cold front which will come in here later tonight and could kick off a shower although i think most of the area will remain dry. bottom line, generally nice conditions around here today with sunshine, high temperatures expected to be about 80 or so. more details on the weather including a closer look at the weekend in just a minute. back to you. >> thank you. more anti-american protests topping our stories right now. the united states bracing for more protests around the muslim world today and libya has made arrests in the attacks that killed american ambassador. the identities of the other

americans killed are also released. let's take a live look right now. the protests against that low- budget film that mocks islam have been spreading all week. a live look at cairo this morning. ntinued overnight. more are expects from morocco to indonesia. on the campaign trail, president obama is at a private fundraiser in the district tonight and mitt romney is in ohio. >> romney was in fairfax yesterday. as tom fitzgerald reports, he had to cannes i'll moment of silence for the americans killed in libya. >> reporter: republican presidential candidate mitt romney's bus was met by cheering supporters at a park in the city of fairfax. but the event quickly faceed a detour. >> northern virginia could well determine who the next president is and i hope you make that decision to get me elected. >> reporter: romney said he was

going to start the rally with a moment of silence for u.s. ambassador chris stevens and three others killed in libya but did not after being heckled. >> a tragedy to lose such wonderful people that have been so wonderful and appreciate their service for the country. >> reporter: a man in the crowd yelled at the governor accusing him of politicizing the killings and demanding that romney apologize. man was shouted down by the crowd and removed. from there he romney turned to the economy which he says is not turning around fast enough and the current president who he says needs to be turned out of office. >> how in the world he can go before a democrat convention and speak to the nation and offer nothing but more of the same is beyond me. >> reporter: romney supporters say they liked what they heard. >> it reenforced what i wanted

to hear. >> i was looking for some specifics and i got some. >> reporter: but democratic party chairman brian moran says he is confident president obama will carry virginia like he did in 2008. >> we are well organized. i think the republicans are trying to catch up. we're well organized. i think that organization ultimately will prevail. >> reporter: with only 54 days left, real clear politics has virginia in a dead heat. both campaigns are expected to make more virginia appearances before it is all over. the romney campaign long ago identified virginia as one of its key battlegrounds and they will keep up the pressure on friday where the vice presidential candidate for the republicans, paul ryan, campaigns in harrisonburg, virginia. tom fitzgerald, fox 5 news. first lady michelle obama was in virginia thursday. her first stop, downtown richmond. she later spoke to supporters at the university of mary

mideast over that controversial movie about islam. security has been stepped up at embassies around the world as the angry demonstrations spread. in libya, the unrest continues where protests turned deadly tuesday when muslims stormed the u.s. consulate in benefit ghazi. four people were killed including the u.s. particular to libya and sean smith and two former navy seals are among the dead. libyan officials say that four people have been arrested in connection with the attack on the u.s. compound and a safe house. president obama has vowed now to get justice for the deaths. >> we are going to bring those who killed our fellow americans to justice. i want people around the world to hear me. to all those who would do us

harm, no act of terror will go unpunished. >> that was a very personal loss. i'm the one who sent chris to benghazi. >> secretary of state hillary clinton said she felt like she was responsible for that death. violence also erupting in places around the middle east, egypt and yemen. protesters stormed embassies. militants blamed the protests on the online movie that mocked the prophet muhammed. but libyan officials say it was timed to coincide with this week's 9-11 anniversary of the terrorist attacks. this morning, terrorists are warning americans to be on guard for more protests and violence. >> thank you. students and faculty at central high school will host a memorial this afternoon for marckel ross who was shot and killed on tuesday while walking to school. students will wear blue shirts to honor the 11th grade are and release blue balloons on the school's football field. last night ark vigil was held to remember the boy who could

put a smile on anyone's face. the school is also accepting donations for a memorial fund set up in marckel's name. a bail hearing for a baltimore teen charged with shooting another student on the first day of school has been postponed. the attorney for 15-year-old robert gladden, jr. has requested the delay saying the teen has been on a suicide watch while being treated at a psychiatric hospital. gladden as excused of opening fire in the cafeteria of perry hall high school. police say one. bullets hit a boy in the back. he is expected to be okay. fo three years ago that killed nine people. this animation shows what happens. notice, as the front train enters the faulty track circuit, the computer system fails to direct it and automatically accelerates the next train causing the collision. vague real time monitoring system in place now could prevent another deadly

one of guatemala's largest volcanos has erupted. an emergency agency there says the volcano erupted yesterday afternoon. 8,000 people have left guatemala city with more than 20,000 more people waiting to flee surrounding areas. stud, stock markets around the world are soaring in reaction to what the federal reserve says it will do here to stimulate the economy. fed chairman ben bernanke announced thursday the fed will keep interest rates super low through 2015. it also plans to spend $40 billion a month to buy mortgage securities. bernanke believes the measures could spur job creation and bring unemployment down from its current 8.6% to 7.6% for the next year.

the dow climbed more than 200 point to its highest level since december 2007 when the recession began. classroom controversy over a 9-11 lesson. some parents are angry a teacher told student to draw pictures of the terrorist attack including the planes hitting the twin towers and people jumping out of windows. it happened at an elementary school in el paso, texas. parents say this isn't the right way to teach kids about what happened. it looks like there could be a light at the end ever the tunnel for the chicago school system. leaders on both sides of the teachers strike are meeting again today and say they are optimistic a deal could soon be reached. some varsity athletes are worried they will lose playoff and championship opportunities and maybe miss out on scholarships if they cannot take the field. this is just what we need along our roadways, more cameras. >> they are everywhere. up next, these cameras report

day forecast. weekend looks great. upper 70s for daytime highs both saturday and sunday. we have a decent chance of some showers second half of monday and tuesday with another cold front that. cools us down again. temperatures next week actually trending a little below average with highs only in the mid-70s wednesday and thursday. let's get the latest on traffic from julie wright. >> all right. on the roads, we are off to a quiet start with no problems here reported in virginia northbound 395 at duke street. traffic flowing freely out to the 14th street bridge. overnight construct has cleared on the beltway between annandale and merrifield. 95 quiet as welcoming northbound from dale city headed across the occoquan. no problems across the american legion bridge. southbound 270 still an easy go headed out towards the split. top side of the beltway in good shape as well traveling between college park and bethesda. drivers are getting a break in montgomery county. the county is no longer issuing

late fees on speed or red light camera tickets. this is after a maryland judge advised county leaders charging fees violated state law. montgomery county has 56 fixed speed cameras, 20 portable speed cameras, six speed camera vans and 10 red light cameras. the county is expected to lose about $2 million in revenue. >> more and more speed cameras are popping up in communities across the region. it is no secret they're not popular but prince george's county police say recently vandals have been targeting the solution. their solution? cameras for the cameras. bob barnard has the story now. >> reporter: that is a speed camera. one of 60 just like it in prince george's county and yes, they're not the most popular things in the world. >> the way the economy is, people are struggling and this is what we get. it is just ridiculous. >> reporter: the one this one

just replaced here along racetrack road in bowie was destroyed by fire at the hands of a van de balaguer. >> me being a christian, i was sort of like that's not right. but a little subconscious, you're like i'm glad they did it. >> reporter: in recent months, police say siskts county's portable speed cameras have been vandalized. >> that including everything from spray painting to being shot at. >> reporter: that is why the prince george's county police major says they've taken the unprecedented step of placing a security camera on top of the new speed camera on racetrack road. >> what that does is it photographs down at the base of the camera just to, number one, record any activity of someone that may try to tamper with the camera and to try to dissuade somebody from maybe doing that kind of thing. >> reporter: what do you think about that? >> i guess it is a good idea if people are vandalizing them. >> reporter: the speed cameras

cost up to $100,000 apiece. >> look at it from the tax payers standpoint, the more they tear up, the more taxes come out of my pocket. >> reporter: this is it is first but prince george's county police are promising it won't be the last of these cameras watching their speed cameras, hoping to have a dozen more up and rolling by the end of the year. the major says the speed cameras themselves are position fayed areason. this one on winbrook drive in clinton was put here after two pedestrians were killed on this road this summer. >> our goal is to bring down the level of accidents, bring down the level of fatalities. en. >> reporter: if machine is going to mess with one of your cameras -- if someone is going to mess with one of your cameras? >> they're going to get locked up. >> interesting concept. never heard of cameras watching cameras. if they vandalize that one, they'll see who is doing it. so keep that in mind. just in time for the

the doll. for two years, the painting drifted around. >> it was my shed, in the trunk of my car, in the spare bedroom. >> reporter: after a while. >> i had some free time on moi hoondz one day and figured i would try to take the painting out of frame. >> reporter: it was stuck in the frame so her mom suggested she get someone to look at it before tearing it apart. in july, she brought it here to the potomac company auction house in old town alexandria. when the woman showed up here, she was carrying the painting in a white plastic garbage bag with a draw string around the top, just the same kind of thing you would use in your kitchen. >> she opens up the bag and this little jewel come out. it really is a jewel. >> reporter: ann craner is the director of fine arts in potomac. who would have believed it was the work of renoir. >> he has a full brush stroke. her are little flexes.
